Osler House has served faithfully as a bar, meeting room, nightclub, TV lounge, games room and much-needed retreat for generations of Oxford medical students. This autumn, the now time-worn interior will be changed beyond recognition thanks to the tremendous generosity of a medical school alumna. William Osler House will be undergoing a major renovation, expanding its size, facilities, and scope of activities. |

Sir William Osler (1849-1919) was perhaps the most famous practitioner of clinical medicine in the world at the turn of the nineteenth century. He described several well-known diseases, was one of the founders of modern medical education, and remains admired within medicine for his humanist attitudes. |
